Disabled access ramp refurbishment, Aldi, Carluke
We refurbished the disabled access ramp at the Aldi store in Carluke, South Lanarkshire. The worn concrete was repaired with Sika Monotop 630 Rapid, then finished with a three-coat MMA resin system with a full anti-slip aggregate, leaving a durable, slip-resistant surface for customers.

The problem
The disabled access ramp runs along the front of the Aldi store in Carluke, between galvanised handrails. The concrete surface had worn and stained, with old patch repairs across it. A ramp used by wheelchair users, buggies and trolleys needs a sound, even surface with reliable grip in the wet.
Our solution
We repaired the defective concrete first. Damaged areas were cut back and rebuilt with Sika Monotop 630 Rapid, a rapid-setting repair mortar, so the ramp was ready for its finish sooner.
The ramp was then finished with a three-coat MMA (methyl methacrylate) resin system. MMA cures fast, even in cold weather, which suits external work on a site that needs to reopen quickly. The final coat carries a full anti-slip aggregate across the whole surface.
