Local building stock
Perth’s centre is built in sandstone, from the Georgian terraces facing the North and South Inches to the Victorian streets around the city. These buildings need lime repointing, stone repairs at sills, cornices and string courses, chimney work and attention to rainwater goods. Much of the centre lies in conservation areas, so materials and details need to match the original.
The Tay runs through the city, and older properties close to the river and its tributaries often have cellars and basements that take in water. These need a survey of where the water comes from before any tanking is specified.
Around Perth, industrial estates such as Inveralmond and the sites along Shore Road and at the harbour need concrete repairs and hard-wearing floors. Food and drink producers across Perthshire, from soft fruit packers to distilleries, need floors that are easy to clean and stand up to wash-down.
Rural Perthshire, from Crieff and Auchterarder to Blairgowrie, Dunkeld and Pitlochry, has stone cottages, farm steadings, estate buildings and Victorian villas. Most were built with lime, and they need repairs in lime: repointing, harling, stone repairs and wall rebuilding.
Perth is about 30 minutes from our base in Dundee on the A90, so site visits across the city are quick to arrange. Highland Perthshire is within an hour and a half.

Perth
We restored The Coach House in Perth, a red brick building with sandstone dressings and a decorative timber gable. The work included repointing in Mason’s Mortar lime mortar, roof repairs, a chimney rebuild with waterproofing, new cast iron gutters and downpipes, four curved-head sash windows, repairs to sills, lintels and mullions, and two biocidal washes to clean the masonry.

Would highly recommend A&B Building solutions. Had the guys carry out some works for an emergency render repair over the winter. Excellent from start to finish and the pricing was spot on. Will definitely be using them again for future works. Thank you!
