Chimney crown restoration on a four-pot stone stack, Edinburgh
We restored the crown of a traditional masonry chimney stack with four chimney pots. Working from fixed scaffolding, we repaired and resurfaced the crown, made good the masonry around it and finished neatly around the base of each pot.

The problem
The chimney is a traditional masonry stack carrying four clay pots. The crown around the pots needed repair, so that it could go on protecting the exposed masonry at the top of the stack. The stonework of the stack is blackened, as the before photo shows.
Our solution
We worked from fixed scaffolding, which gave safe access to the top of the stack. The chimney crown was repaired and resurfaced, and the masonry around it was made good.
The existing pots stayed in place. We finished the new surface carefully around the base of each pot and kept the finish consistent across the whole crown, so the stack keeps its traditional look.
